Our Mission

Bridges of Promise has one primary goal - to aid communities in need. We do so by fostering partnerships with other organizations and by coordinating small grass roots fundraising events.

We seek to collaborate with others who wish to help support and provide education, clean water, public health and other basic needs to underserved communities so they may grow and thrive.

Currently, the main objective for Bridges of Promise is to secure school tuition for the 70 plus orphans in Rulenge Tanzania. We believe education must come first. Knowledge is power. We want to empower the children of Rulenge to think for themselves and encourage them to become contributing members of their communities. This fundamental concept enables children to thrive, dream and do better for themselves. All funds that we raise go directly to fund these school tuitions.

We raise the funds in very simple ways. Our biggest fundraiser is Portraits in the Park, an annual event held at Creekside Park in Greenbrae. For a small donation families receive a professional photo portrait session. We also host bake sales, tea parties and other small creative projects.

Bridges of Promise also believes in fostering relationships with other organizations. We can not do our work alone. By bridging the gap between what is needed and researching where to find help, we connect with organizations who become our partners. Water Hope is our most recent partner, and has granted funds to build water catchment systems. Dominican University Department of Nursing, our first partner, is developing a community service program which will bring nursing faculty and students to Rulenge each year to work in the Biharmulo hospital to offer support and extended education to Tanzanian medical staff, and bring advanced technologies to the community. The nursing department is also raising money to fund bed nets, shoes and hand sanitizer for the orphans.

By taking small steps, large doors have opened. We continue to accomplish what we previously didn't dream possible in such a short time. If you have ideas or want to become involved, we encourage your suggestions. Please contact us. We would be delighted to hear from you.
